Engineering Services

Luxon Engineering offers the design services detailed below. We use the latest in computer aided design and analysis software to enhance our design capabilities. Click on the thumbnails in each section to see the examples in a larger view.

Mechanical Design

The design of mechanical parts and assemblies is our specialty. Using advanced computer-aided-engineering (CAE) techniques, we are able to optimize a design to achieve your goals quickly and accurately. The ability to build and test a virtual product using CAE substantially improves design efficiency; fewer prototypes are required for development and testing since most of the iterations are preformed quickly on the computer. This saves valuable time and money and quickly gets the product or idea to market. All simulations, results, design concepts, bills of materials, etc. are organized in a manner that is easy to understand and can be delivered to the customer in many formats. Take a look below and click on the thumbnails to see some examples of this work. Further examples can be found in the case studies section of the website.

3D CAD Modeling

Model thumbnail We use SolidWorks CAD software for all our 3D modeling. Models can be delivered to the customer in various formats (SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer, IGES, STEP, Parasolid, and STL). All solid models are created using a clean and efficient style; notes and comments are added where necessary to a neatly organized feature tree. If applicable, skeletons and/or equations are added to facilitate design and configuration changes. Assemblies receive the same treatment with the addition of exploded views where applicable.

Rigid Body Dynamic Analysis

Motion thumbnail A dynamic analysis can be preformed on assemblies to determine force locations, magnitudes, and directions throughout various loadcases. These loads can then be applied in a structural analysis to accurately accomplish your design goals. Motion analysis can also be useful to check for part interference, size actuators and motors, and plot various parameters of interest throughout a mechanism's motion.

Structural and Modal Analysis

Analysis thumbnail A static or modal finite element analysis can be applied to all solid models to check for stress concentrations, factor of safety, determine resonant frequencies, and find other values of interest. Finite element methods give us the ability to run through many different design configurations quickly to determine the optimal design.

2D Drafting and Technical Drawings

Drawing thumbnail Like our 3D modeling, SolidWorks CAD software is utilized for all 2D technical drawings. Drawings are available to the customer in various formats (SolidWorks, DXF, DWG, PDF, and JPEG). All dimensions and tolerances conform to the ANSI Y14.5 1994 standard with proper GD&T used throughout.

Photorealistic Renderings

Rendering thumbnail Our rendering software can transform a 3D model into a realistic looking image; many different materials and scenes are available to showcase you design. Renderings are useful for visualization purposes when aesthetics are of importance and can also be used to market a product before it goes to production or to convey an idea to investors.
